Christmas Lights on Trees

Christmas in July

Legacy will hold it annual Christmas in July dinner on 18 July 2024 at Club Mulwala. Bookings essential by contacting Brian Cossar OAM

The Charter of Legacy – “The Spirit of Legacy is Service” The care of dependants of those who served their country: namely, veterans who gave their lives or health on operational service or subsequently, and Australian Defence Force members who die in service, affords a field for service. Safeguarding the interests of dependents.

Founded on a Promise

In 1923 Legacy made a promise to help veteran’s families carry on with their lives after the loss or injury of their loved one. As a dying WW1 soldier said on the battlefield to his mate “look after me missus and kids”. It was a simple promise that Legacy keeps today; providing the same stability, guidance and assistance that a partner would normally provide to his or her family.

Legacy is dedicated to caring for the families of Australian Defence Force veterans who have lost their life or health serving their country. Legacy is a uniquely Australian organisation who accepts the ongoing responsibility for the debt Australia to those who have gone before us in the service of our nation. It does so by providing welfare support to widows, children and disabled dependants of Australia’s veterans who served their country in war or peacekeeping operations and who dies on service or subsequently.

Our Mission

Legacy strives to ensure that the partners and children of veterans who gave their lives or health in recognised military service can fully realise their potential.

Our Vision

No dependant of a veteran suffers financial or social disadvantage as a result of their loved one’s death or injury from service.

RSL/Legacy Partnership

The Sub-Branch is in a very fortunate position where it embraces the ideals of Legacy and what it stands for. The co-operation between both sister organisations has been a healthy one that has strengthened over numerous years and work hand in hand to ensure that our veterans, and deceased veterans wives/partners, are cared for in their time of need by the appropriate ex service organisations.
